Alejandra Ferreira de Loza, PhD

Alejandra Ferreira de Loza studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where she got her Ms. Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in 2007 and 2010, respectively. Between 2010 and 2013, she held two postdoctoral positions in France. First, in LAMIH-Lab at the University of Valenciennes, Valenciennes, Fr. Later, she worked at IMS-Lab at the University of Bordeaux, Bordeaux, Fr. In 2013 she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at CINVESTAV Monterrey, Mx. Since 2014, she is with Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Centro de Desarrollo de Tecnología Digital IPN-CITEDI, where she holds a CONACyT Research Fellow. 

She has supervised six master's students, and she is currently supervising two Ph.D. students. She has co-authored over 40 refereed journals, conferences, and book chapters. In 2017, she was invited as a lecturer at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota, Colombia.  Since 2019 she has been the technical responsible for the funded EcosNORD-CONACyT bilateral project "New generation of closed-loop algorithms for glucose regulation in diabetic patients using bio-inspired models." 

She belongs to the Mexican National Research Council, level 2 (SNI-2).  She is a member of the IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS), a member of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), and a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Variable Structure Systems and Sliding Mode Control (VSS&SMC). Since 2022 she has been Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics and Associated Editor of the International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing. She has served as Guest Editor of the International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control.
